"I think this is easily the stillest album we've ever done," says Necks' bassist Lloyd Swanton.

Differing from the sustained improvisations that are their live performances, The Necks' studio albums take shape by way of intricate crafting throughout the entire recording and mixing process. Bleed also features additional instrumentation to The Necks' usual live palette of piano, bass and drums/percussion with guitar, keyboards, samples, kalimba and mandolin included on the album.
