Hal Lone Pine was born Harold Breau and hailed from Pea Cove, Maine, USA but early in his career established himself as a major name on the country music scene in Canada as well as his home region. A flamboyant, handsome and personable man with a strong voice, he became known for his western image and cowboy-themed shows even though he had never been a cowboy. He married a young French Canadian girl and as Hal Lone Pine and Betty Cody they toured throughout Canada and the USA, eventually establishing a nationwide audience. Both he and Betty Cody became big names on radio with Hal performing on suc prestigious platforms as KWKH Louisiana Hayride, Big D Jamboree in Dallas and WWVA Wheeling Jamboree in West Virginia. Hear his two most famous songs; his own "Prince Edward Island Is Heaven To Me" and "When It's Apple Blossom Time In Annapolis Valley" written by Alberta Slim. He became popular with the rockabilly followers too and we feature him in rockabilly-country mode with "Alabam", "Shotgun Boogie" and "Oh Lonesome Me" and others. Betty Cody had a powerful, hard voice ideal for country music and enjoyed great popularity, not only as Hal Lone Pine's touring and duet partner but as a solo name in her own right. As a solo artist Betty Cody was rated by many in the industry close in popularity to Kitty Wells. Included in this set are 32 songs, all digitally remastered, featuring solo tracks by Hal Lone Pine as well as some of his famous duets with Betty Cody such as "Trail Of The Lonesome Pine", "Columbus Stockade Blues" and "I Heard The Bluebirds Sing" plus two duets with his later touring partner Jean Ward. The collection includes early tracks recorded for RCA in the early 1950s right through to some tracks taken from the early 1960s when he was recording albums with ARC.
