Mikey (Sean Astin) is a young teenage boy who makes an ultimate discovery when looking around the attic. Unexpectedly, he and his close friends discover an old pirate map that also used to belong to Mikey's father. With Mikey and his entire family going through rough patches, including possibly losing their home, Mikey and his friends, aka The Goonies, set off on an adventure unlike anything they've ever done. Working closely together, The Goonies hope to discover a secret treasure once stolen by the famous pirate One-Eyed Willie. At the same time, a trio of criminals are aware of the young teenagers in pursuit of possible fortune. Now, the clock is ticking, and The Goonies need to find the treasure and return to safety before the trio of crooks collect it for themselves. The Goonies is a terrific film. It's funny, sweet and adventurous. Regarding films released in the 80s, The Goonies remains one of the greatest. With some playful and great performances from all the cast and set designs, which again, for its time, is also outstanding. The Goonies is about a group of kids called The Goonies who discover an ancient map and set out to find a pirates long lost treasure. This was a massive staple in my childhood vhs rotation at home. It is so much fun in every way and a must watch for the family. Sean Austin and Josh Brolin steal the show for me.. so good 10/10
