PRODUCT REVIEWS

Paul, played by Nicolas Cage, is a biology professor who is married and has two teenage daughters. Despite being surrounded by people who have achieved success and wealth, Paul faces several challenges. One of his biggest challenges is fulfilling his lifelong dream of writing and publishing a book. Unfortunately, Paul continues to experience frustration and disappointment in his pursuit of his goals. One day, Paul's daughter tells him about a strange and chaotic dream she had. In the dream, Paul was present, watching lots of craziness from a distance. As Paul goes about his day, he soon finds out that many others also had dreams about him standing and watching strange things happen. Paul even meets strangers who claim to have dreamed about him. While the events of everyone dreaming about him are inexplicable, Paul enjoys all the newfound attention and celebrity status. However, the fame and stardom that follows from appearing in others' dreams soon takes a dark turn. Those who have been dreaming of Paul start having nightmares, and Paul is now acting crazily and violently. Dream Scenario is a comedy film that incorporates horror elements. The plot revolves around people who start having nightmares about a character named Paul. The movie is directed by Kristoffer Borgli, who is known for his previous works like Sick of Myself and Drib. Although the concept of a character committing murder in people's dreams may remind some viewers of Freddy Krueger, Dream Scenario stands out as a unique and original take on this idea. Nicolas Cage's portrayal of Paul, the protagonist, is phenomenal. Paul is a complex character, often exhibiting feelings of fragility, anxiety, and timidity. As the story progresses and Paul's fame grows, Cage's performance undergoes a significant shift. Moreover, Cage's portrayal of the horrific acts and dreams involving Paul is gripping. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Cage also delivered several humorous lines of dialogue, making for an engaging watch. Additionally, Michael Cera's unexpected side performance was a welcome addition to the movie. Dream Scenario has an excellent hook with its wild premise, which leads to some unexpected twists and turns. Nicolas Cage gives a terrific performance as the lead character, displaying a range of emotions at the beginning before his character starts to change significantly as the film progresses and introduces horror elements. The sound design throughout the film is impressive, and the journey is both unique and bizarre. While I personally enjoyed most of the story, I think some viewers may have a different interpretation of what's happening in the film. Although the film is enjoyable overall, I was disappointed with the final moments, which felt abrupt and weaker than the rest of the feature. * This review has been written for Sanity.
