Davda, a four-member rock band loved by fans in the live scene with live energy led by the expansion of sensitively varied performances and a youthful melody that dances while crying, releases a new EP [Yonder] after two years. Davda released her first regular album [But, All The Shining Things Are] in 2020 after a year of preparation, but unfortunately the pandemic hit the world and most of the prepared activities were canceled. Although a great misfortune struck, they continued their activities as best as possible, and in 2021, they released a collaboration single [Jungle Gym] with Toe's Takashi Kashikura. [Jungle Gym] was selected as Pitchfork Media's “Pitchfork Select”, and Japan Disc Union released their first album with [Jungle Gym] added as a bonus track.

Davda, who started working on a new song early last year, developed the song by sketching ideas from jams in order to create a song that would inspire her and increase her energy. A catalyst was needed to raise the energy of the band, which had sunk due to the difficulties of activities during the pandemic. They tried to write songs that could be played coolly on the big stage of the festival, and actively borrowed sounds and effects that had not been used before. These five newly created songs contain the story of the longing and prayers of us and the youth of the same generation to overcome the desperate situation during the pandemic. “Nature Simulator” became the keyword that ties the story of the EP together. And over there, “Yonder”, which means the place where nature is located, not here, as we think, became the title of the new album. The EP [Yonder], in which he worked on the song over a year, reflected the changes that depend on the season. From the heart pounding music you hear
while riding a bicycle on a summer night to a song that contains the stillness of a calm autumn morning, the flow of emotions according to the change of seasons is captured in detail with Math Rock, which does not count numbers. If you listen to the EP [Yonder], you will be able to feel the comfort and liberation while feeling the nature of each song.

“We tried to capture the nature we crave and wish for in the EP [Yonder]. The power of nature I felt during my trip to Thailand was an intense experience. And the gap between the serviced nature of the resort where we are comforted and the nature that actually exists in the wild was interesting. We tried to capture the air that changes depending on the season in which the song was created. I hope that the various temperaments of nature contained in each song will give listeners a sense of comfort and liberation. Track 1, “Fireplay,” contains nature with the power of a hot fire. The intro track that was played during the performance was the starting point of the idea. “Flower Tail” tells the story of sailing toward the horizon on a boat carrying flowers in the tropical sea. At the same time, this song is also the story of departing people sailing somewhere. In the southern part of Thailand, the prow of a wooden boat with a long tail is decorated with flowers of different shapes, each of
which is meant to wish the well-being of fishermen leaving for the sea. Track 3, “Prayer,” contains the pathetic feelings of earnest prayer and the weight of hope. Track 4, “Cloud City,” contains the image of a city mixed with overflowing love songs and noise. The last track “One, World, Wound” started with a melody created by humming. This song, which captures the context of the EP, contains comfort for each person's wounds. We who live with wounds can be another wound to someone. Everything we do has equal value and the important thing is to get up and do something. I wish I could listen to this song often when I feel like everything is meaningless and I don't want to do anything.”

Lee Seung-hyun and Kim Ji-ae, who met at a college club in 2010, decided to try a band together and headed to Seoul. At the time, Davda was playing unidentified music that could be found somewhere between folk and post-rock. It was a time when the music style changed every time a member was replaced, so I couldn't find a clear direction for myself. Davda, which started activities with a new lineup in 2016, released its debut EP [Island of Each Person] after Joseph Lee joined. In February 2018, they appeared on Naver On Stage and met a new opportunity, releasing the single [Dream Expression]. They also got opportunities to participate in overseas festivals such as Liverpool Sound City (UK), Bangkok Music City (TH), and Playtime Festival (MN). In 2020, after a year of preparation, the first regular album [But, All The Shining Things Are] was released, and after Noh Geo-hyun (Bass) joined, the collaboration single [Jungle Gym] with Takashi Kashikura of Toe was released in 2021. did.

Along with the release of the EP [Yonder] in the summer of 2023, the group plans to continue activities such as participation in domestic and international festivals and overseas tours.
