Nine tracks from an acoustic rehearsal session at a New York studio in November 1996 for a BBC radio special broadcast on David Bowie's 50th birthday, January 8, 1997. Featuring Bowie's favorite songs, the session was recorded almost entirely acoustically, with Gail Ann Dorothy (bass), Reeves Gabrels (guitar), and Mark Prati (keyboards). The album was co-produced by Bowie himself, Reeves Gabrels, and Mark Prati. The artwork features a portrait by photographer Albert Watson, taken in New York in 1996. In addition to "The Man Who Sold The World," which was brought back into the spotlight when Nirvana covered it, and the Velvet Underground's "White Light/White Heat" cover, "Lady Stardust" and "Quicksand" are also featured on the album. This is a valuable collection of rare songs rarely performed live that fans will be delighted to hear.
