“A record containing people, songs, books, and art, melted into a small cultural space of 10 years.”

“Songs for Small Bookstores”, a compilation LP commemorating the 10th anniversary of The Pollock, released The Pollock 10th anniversary compilation album LP, an independent publication bookstore located in Daegu, will be officially released on July

. Eight teams of talented indie musicians from inside and outside Daegu, including Chun Yong-seong, Kim Bit-ok-min, Shin Seung-eun, and Dan Dan-seon, participated and recorded 8 original songs with the theme of books and bookstores. In addition, 8 popular independently published visual artists, including Kimi, Tabaco Books, and Lim Jin-ah, work on illustration posters with each song as a motif, so you can meet them together. is also a cheer sent by workers in the independent publishing/indie music scene to their colleagues and to those who are creating their own world, albeit in a small way. Just as the small bookstore The Pollock celebrated its 10th anniversary, many bookstores and cultural spaces cheer for their 10th and next 20th anniversaries, and contain messages for people who make books and people who love books. You can listen to the LP from the 25th of this month at online and offline music stores, and the sound source from the 1st of August on various sound source sites. This
album was planned and produced by The Pollock, and received some support from the Daegu Music Creation Center 'Open Stage' support project.

A record of people, songs, books, and art melted into a small cultural space of 10 years

The Pollock is a bookstore that first opened its doors in October 2012 as the first independent publication bookstore in Daegu to introduce and sell books, as well as a cultural space that operates various cultural and artistic programs such as creative workshops, exhibitions, and performances. It was also a distribution center that introduced and sold local musicians' albums since indie music stores were rare in Daegu. In addition, he has continuously operated , a planned performance that pays attention to and introduces indie musicians, for about 10 years, and has introduced a number of musicians to date. This album was also joined by 8 teams who had performed at The Pollock.
In addition, 8 artists, including Kimi, Tabaco Books, Lim Jin-ah, and Bird Fit, worked on illustration posters and held an exhibition with each song as a motif. You can enjoy the posters of the artists who were inspired by each music at The Pollock. This album is a record of spending time together with various artists and local teams and using the space in their own way while the small cultural space called The Pollock has been operating for 10 years, and is a meaningful work gathered into one album.
The Pollock has been doing various independent publications for the past 10 years, focusing on local contents, and has been running the only independent publishing festival in Daegu for 9 years under the name of .

A small bookstore, a community space and focal point for those seeking local culture

After medium-sized bookstores that could be found in each neighborhood were closed, independent publishing started in the late 2000s and independent publishing bookstores that distributed them were born. Now, more than 10 years later, independent publishing has a great influence on the trend of the publishing world, and independent bookstores have become an alternative space to meet culture and books in the neighborhood. Nowadays, small bookstores are not only cultural spaces, but also places to experience and enjoy new culture and arts. In this trend where individuals become publishers, this album is meaningful as a record that gives a glimpse into the realm of bookstores and independent/indie arts.
There are about 20 small bookstores in operation in Daegu, and most small bookstores have played a role in promoting local culture and indie culture, such as planning and opening small exhibitions and performances by local musicians, as alternative spaces for local culture, rather than just functioning as bookstores. Starting with The Pollock, over the past 10 years, bookstores of various personalities have sprung up in Daegu. In addition to The Pollock, various bookstores such as Chabang Bookstore, Bookstore 2nd Floor, Ghost Books, Coffee Lang and Chaerang also operate various cultural planning programs, including performances by local musicians. In this way, small bookstores are becoming a community space and center for those who spread local culture and seek independent/indie culture. With the small bookstore at the center, various musicians and illustrators gathered together to create stories about books and culture in their own ways and collect them into one album. It contains the hope
that the music produced in this way will be a message of support and gratitude to the small bookstore and those who care about it. Songs on a variety of topics

, from being inspired by literature, to imagination that started with paper, to the Korean literature board.
Participating musicians included Daegu local musicians Polyp, Kim Bit Ok-min, today's safety, Cheon Yong-seong, Shin Seung-eun, Dan Dan-seon, Emon, and Analog Boy. There are as many different genres of music as rock, hip-hop, folk, etc., as each musician's colorful personality.
As , you can listen to songs inspired by poems and novels, as well as lyrics based on various imaginations, including books. Analog Boy made a song called based on poet Song Gyeong-dong's collection of poems . Safe Today is a song made with lyrics excerpted from the novel by Eun Hee-kyung. Shin Seung-eun's is a song that wittily pinches Korean literature, starting with the lyrics, "Did you think of breasts when you saw the back garden?" The short story is a song that gives strength to many people who choose various 'independence' such as music or publishing with strong sound and lyrics. Chun Yong-seong is a song made with imagination that started from the place where paper comes from, 'Gina a big tree. It tells the story of the way paper came to be made for books, such as the lyrics 'Where bears and tigers live'. Kim Bit-Ok-Min is a song that expresses the thoughts of turning the pages in a bookstore with a mysterious sound, comparing the sound of turning the pages to the fish swimming in
the book. Emmon talks about books as a path of travel that allows you to explore a new world through books, the experience of connecting with someone from the past or someone from another space at the same time.
