Augie (Jason Schwartzman) is a grieving father who travels with his children to a rural community known as Asteroid City. In Asteroid City, a competition is about to occur; however, this is soon interrupted by a chain of events, including something unexplainable, perhaps alien-related! Now, this small community is trapped inside Asteroid City until further notice. Directed by Wes Anderson (Isle of Dogs, Moonrise Kingdom, etc), Wes delivers another well-made film with strong visuals and cleverness, not to mention many wacky and random scenes. The cast lineup here is also massive, and there are plenty of unexpected side performances and cameos throughout. Ultimately, if you are a fan of anything from the director, you'll know what to expect, and once again, the director doesn't disappoint as Asteroid City is another entertaining ride and feature. * This review has been written for Sanity. Asteroid City is about a writer on his fictional play about a grieving father who travels with his tech obsessed family to small rural Asteroid City to compete in a junior stargazing event. If it sounds strange that’s because it is but in the best possible way from the extraordinary mind of Wes Anderson. All the performances are first class as per usual with Jason Schwartman and Scarlett Johansson being the standouts and a great story from Wes. 7.5/10
