[Female folk duet San Dew from Incheon Women's Award]
Park Kyung-ae and Joo-jeong, members of the popular female folk duet San Dew in the 1970s, were classmates in middle and high school. The two, who were active in the school choir at Incheon Women's Award, liked singing much more than studying and sang well. They participated in the National Singing Contest and were selected for the monthly prize, advancing to the year-end competition. Her career as a singer began in earnest in 1974, after graduating from a girls' high school, when she participated in the Folk Singer Contest co-hosted by Jigu Records and Monthly Pop Song and won the Best Group Award. Pop columnist Lee Yang-il, who heard their song at the time, named the team "Mountain Dew", saying, "The tone is clear and beautiful." The folk song sung by Mountain Dew, which was like a pure white crystal like the team name, made a bigger resonance in the turbid 1970s and penetrated the hearts of the younger generation.
[A pure folk song that made a big impact]
Their debut album, produced in 1974 as a not-for-sale product, was officially released in 1975. Most of the album, which is known as a fairly rare album, contained pop adaptations, but , written and composed by Bang Ji-hyun, was the only original song. Bang Ji-hyun, who also worked as an arranger, later changed his name to 'Bang Ki-nam' in San Dew's first solo album, and was a supporter of their musical activities. Afterwards, San Dew, who released one more split album with Eui-Jun Hwang, begins preparations for his first solo album, which provided a turning point in his musical life. It is the only solo album by San Dew, a female folk duet released in January 1976 through Seorabugord. This album, which contains a total of 12 songs, is filled with lyrical and upbeat songs that sketch the daily lives of young people in the 1970s. Park Kyung-ae, who has a rich husky tone, and San Dew, who harmonizes with the soft and charming voice of Joo-jeong, realized a fantastic harmony. Like the name of
the team, their folk song, which was like a pure white crystal, made a big resonance in the turbid 1970s and captured the hearts of the younger generation.
[Production of a production unit with production errors corrected]
The first track of side A in the beginning is marked as in the jacket track list, but it is played on the second track in the album. Instead, , marked as the third track, is played as the first track, which seems to be an error made during the production process. Due to a manufacturing error in the beginning, a jacket was immediately produced that corrected the jacket. The jacket in the beginning is a unique photo with the members placed between a circular tambourine on top of an acoustic guitar with the blue sky in the background. Jaeban's jacket was changed to a photo of him sitting on an old tree wearing a feminine outfit. The error in the order of the first song on side A and the actual album recorded in the track list at the beginning was corrected on the board. Instead, the title of the song was changed to , and this song inevitably became the title song of Jaeban.
[1970's hit folk song , ]
The songs that received the most love from the album were and . In particular, the naive words that evoke the rural scenery of the 70s, such as 'Tangja Tree', 'Suni', and 'Dori', appearing in the lyrics of , written and composed by Gye Dong-gyun, are memories of the 70s that can no longer be returned. to summon At that time, the phenomenon of nongyangdo (????), in which people left their dear hometowns and headed to the city recklessly due to poverty, reached its peak. As if to testify to the social atmosphere at the time, the longing for the hometown permeated in the lyrics of this song drew sympathy from many people who lived in other countries. , containing the pure sensibility of the young generation in the 1970s, was also a metaphorical breath of resistance against the strong current of farming and industrialization. On the B-side composed of Bang Ki-nam's original song, , which is full of cheerful yet sad emotions, captivated the sensibility of the younger generation. In addition, , ,
and have been loved for a long time.
[Received the 1977 TBC Choir Award]
Park Kyung-ae, who has a rich husky tone, and Joo-jeongi's soft voice harmonized San Dew with several hits from one album and emerged as the number one recruiting target at college festivals nationwide. Accordingly, in 1977, TBC Dongyang Broadcasting won the Jung Choir Award and rose to stardom, which is rare for a folk female duet. Mountain Dew's clear and beautiful folk song captured the hearts of young souls who yearned for freedom and innocence in the 1970s, an era of control, and was loved.
[One of the biggest hits among female folk duet albums in the 70s]
Park Kyung-ae, who had a rich voice, is an outstanding vocalist who won awards at international song festivals. She left behind many hit songs such as , , and . She left us too early in 2004 due to lung cancer. As a solo singer, Joo Jeong-yi with her cute appearance and attractive tone drew attention belatedly with , the theme song of the movie Mrs. Ae-ma, which hit the 80's. Regarded as one of the greatest hits of female folk duets in the 70s, this album was reissued as a reprinted CD in 2011. This album, which was re-released as an early LP version using the original master tape, is meaningful in that it has been completely restored after 42 years in that it even corrected errors in the track list.
