Naul's Special LP Release
[Principle Of My Soul] 10th Anniversary Edition
Naul prepared a special gift for fans to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her solo debut album.
Her solo debut album, which is remembered for her intense song 'Memories of the Wind', is an indispensable alum in the history of songs filled with high-quality songs. As it is her first solo album, which was released after 13 years of her debut, it was an album that Naul's musical talent was concentrated on.
It's already been 10 years since I met Na-ul at the album release showcase, the so-called 'Gaming Meeting', and listened to songs and stories in front of her fans. Through the brief meeting at the time, I was able to learn a lot about Naul and his first solo album. The principle of his music that can be felt even in the title. The thought of approaching my beliefs through music rather than as the best vocalist was a meaningful time that made me feel how my life and I, who were at the end of our youth 10 years ago, are going in different directions. It was a realization of the easy truth that true success is created in the process of keeping his beliefs without taking the direction of his life towards his success. Naul kept her beliefs like that and walked for another 10 years.
After reviewing Naul's music for a long time, the core of Naul's music career for 23 years is black, analog, and the gospel. [Principle Of My Soul] best contains the three key elements he pursued. I took out the review of his debut album again, and was able to confirm that he had arranged the album in the same three categories even 10 years ago. In Naul's solo journey, these three key elements remain the same.
[Principle Of My Soul] encompasses all of the black music that Naul loved, from retro soul to R&B ballads, and tried analog recording using reel tape equipment, and finished the album with gospel. This album, which perfectly expressed his musical beliefs, which he could not fully complete during group activities in the past, could be engraved as an 'album' occupying a place in the history of Korean popular music, not his music history.
Based on a review from 10 years ago, let's put together a track list.
The first song "Soul Fever" is an instrumental soul sound that was loved in America in the 1970s. It was recorded on a reel tape with an exotic sound reminiscent of the groove and entertainment district of MFSB, a representative of Philadelphia Sound.
The second song "Memory Rhythm" is a pop soul sound that dominated the 1970s. The so-called 'mellow groove' that elicits a soft and mellow fun is pleasing to the ears. Naul described this song as an atmosphere reminiscent of Jacksons.
The third song "You & Me" expressed the typical Philly Soul of the 1970s. You can experience Naul's tremendous vocal spectrum in her shattering falsetto singing method.
The fourth song "My Girl" is a song created based on the pop sound of the 1980s.
The fifth song "Missing You" has a refreshing sound made with an acoustic guitar. Naul introduced this song as a song that she would like to listen to on a rainy day, and she told the story that she made no progress while writing the lyrics, but saw the movie 'Introduction to Architecture' and finished it right away with the feeling of her fresh love.
The sixth song, "Love Dawn," adds electronic notes to a slow, relaxed sound. This song was used as the signal music for the radio program 'Naul's Music World' that he hosted. Originally, it was made to be included in the album, but it was first presented as a signal.
The seventh song "Memories of the Wind" contains a beautiful message about people. Naul's autobiographical contents are contained in her lyrics, and Naul's appeal in her candid release drew a big impression. Naul reported an episode in which she mistakenly raised her half height. Thanks to her mistake, which is slightly higher than her usual tone, the song's appeal and sincerity have been doubled.
The eighth song "Beginning of Farewell" is a 1990s R&B song.
The ninth song "Still Me" was made for Brown Eyes fans, remembering those days. It is a song that suits the mood of autumn when the leaves are falling, and the chords of the Joo Joo are attractive.
The tenth song "Stone Of Zion" is a praise song about Naul's confession of faith. It contains Naul's wish that many people can be comforted and experience healing through this song.
If you look at the dictionary definition of 'wind', it means 'to look toward something'. It was a delightful time to remember the music he wanted once again. (Writing/Popular Music Critic's Paper)
