The series depicts a future in which Earth is dominated by a race of self-aware machines that was spawned from the creation of artificial intelligence early in the 21st century. At one point conflict arose between mankind and machines, and the machines rebelled against their creators. Mankind attempted to block out the machines' source of solar power by covering the sky in thick, stormy clouds. A massive war emerged between the two adversaries which ended with the machines victorious, capturing mankind. Having lost their definite source of energy, the machines devised a way to extract the human body's bioelectric and thermal energies by enclosing people in pods, while their minds are controlled by cybernetic implants connecting them to a simulated reality called the Matrix. Contains:
1. The Matrix
2. The Matrix Reloaded
3. The Matrix Revolutions
4. The Matrix Resurrections

PRODUCT REVIEWS

Welcome to the fourth instalment; The Matrix Resurrections! Continuing on from The Matrix Revolutions (2003), we follow Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves), who is a famous software developer. Known for developing many amazing video games, Thomas in the present day feels lost and almost robotic as he completes his daily routines.  He begins to see and feel things that make him to question his reality and the people he interacts with around him. Thomas often his local shrink (Neil Patrick Harris) regularly, attempting to help Thomas with his concerns and doubt.  To help with his worries, Thomas is given prescribed medication which comes in the form of blue pills.   He also feels that a woman at a local coffee shop looks familiar and is somehow connected to him.  What is this world that surrounds Thomas, and importantly, will he uncover the truth? Growing up, I was a huge fan of The Matrix, with the first film being an all-time favourite of mine. When Warner Brothers announced the fourth film, I was higly excited to see the world of The Matrix and the return of a few familiar faces. The Matrix Resurrections begins with many mysteries and lays down a unique concept while remaining familiar to the previous films.  The good news is that visually, The Matrix is stunning! The film is filled with lots of stunning visual effects, delivering a few nice surprises. Movie lovers are encouraged to pay attention while watching as several easter eggs are shown throughout the film. Overall, fans will be eager to revisit The Matrix, and it is very exciting to see this world and its key characters returning. Thankfully, there is a new fresh story and many mysteries right from the word go. Granted, my investment for the film was on point during the start, but sadly, like the matrix itself, at times, the film feels slightly glitchy, including the editing between most scenes, unexplained plot details and some details relating to its characters. The action sequences are thankfully still creative. In the end, this franchise still has plenty of brainless entertainment for all movie buffs even if some aspects are questionable. * This review has been written for Sanity.
