In Die in a Gunfight, Mary (Alexandra Daddario) and Ben (Diego Boneta) are the star-crossed black sheep of two powerful families engaged in a centuries-long feud and theyre about to reignite an affair after many years apart. Their forbidden love will trigger the dominoes that will draw in Mukul (Wade Allain-Marcus), Bens best friend, who owes him a life debt; Terrence (Justin Chatwin), Marys would-be protector-turned-stalker; Wayne (Travis Fimmel), an Aussie hitman with an open mind and a code of ethics; and his free-spirited girlfriend, Barbie (Emmanuelle Chriqui). PRODUCT REVIEWS

Set within the city of New York, Die in a Gunfight is a modern tale of Romeo + Juliet. The story is narrated by actor Billy Crudup, who first introduces the audience to Ben Gibbon (Diego Boneta). Ben is always taking a beating and never seems to give up a solid fight. This is especially true when he first meets his true love, Mary Rathcart (Alexandra Daddario). In the present day, it’s been a long time since the two have even heard from one another. Just like the well known Shakespeare story, Ben and Mary’s families have been at war with each other, feuding through business media for years. When Ben visits a club and is covered in bruises from his most recent beating, he unexpectedly finds Mary again. The two are romantically reunited, and it’s not long until they decide they should get married and run away together. While this might and easy, Ben and Mary will have plenty in their way attempting to tear them apart forever, including family members and a dangerous hitman who also wants Mary to be the love of his life. It’s going to be a messy wedding day filled with blood and revenge. Overall, there’s no way to say it, this film is quite weak, odd, and I was disappointed by it. A modern-day Romeo + Juliet is always welcomed, but this was a weak film and generally has nothing ground-breaking. We are given plenty of characters to follow, but like the plot, I couldn’t find myself investing in any of them as they do little on-screen to keep movie buffs entertained or excited. Credit where credits due, the film has tried to be fun and modern, but in the end, it’s just a film that I’ve already forgotten about. *This review has been written for Sanity.
