In the future, Earth will become impossible to live on due to many issues. Driven away by climate changes, pandemics, and many other issues, humans managed to successfully leave Earth and find a new planet to live on. While all seems well on the new planet, humans soon become unable to procreate. This forces them to return to Earth again to investigate how the planet is going with hopes and desires of returning, reproducing, and living a peaceful life. After the first return mission to Earth reportedly failed, a new team is assembled. One of the astronauts is a female named Blake (Nora Arnezeder). Blake wants to know if it's possible to create life on Earth and has a personal investment in this mission as she wants to know what happened to her father, who was a part of the previous team sent to Earth. The Colony is best described as a sci-fi film with some moments of mystery. The film's opening is quite fun as it introduces our leading hero. We get a greater understanding of Earth's current situation, which seems like a dark and dull wasteland. It's not long until Blake makes some massive discoveries, including that humans have managed to survive on Earth. All of her discoveries build toward a few questions for the audience. Overall, I'm generally 50/50 on this film. There are many great aspects to enjoy here, including the opening, visuals and even the film's sci-fi aspects. Those who enjoy films such as Mad Max with a sci-fi touch should certainly check this film out. * This review has been written for Sanity.
