PRODUCT REVIEWS

When a grandmother named Edna (Robyn Nevin) appears to have disappeared, her daughter Kay (Emily Mortimer), and her granddaughter Sam (Bella Heathcote), decide up to check on her. As Kay and Sam arrive at Edna's home, they confirm she is missing. A police report is filed, and Kay and Sam start to clean the home and look for Edna's whereabouts. One morning out of the blue, Edna comes back home, giving Sam a horrific fright when she enters the kitchen. Soon, Edna shows frighting and haunting amounts of dementia, which is slowly taking over. Are Kay and Sam safe? Can they escape before it is too late? Relic is a different kind of horror film, and honestly, I've never seen anything like it before. While the film is a horror movie at its core, it is also a drama with nice touches of mystery along the way. A horror film that focuses on both dementia and family is quite touching and gripping at the same time. The top performances from the three leading cast members are brilliant. They are highly believable, and they feel genuine on-screen throughout the entire duration. I found the pleasing performances to be quite unexpected. Overall, this is a solid horror film that is also a family drama and has fun mysteries. Relic is highly creepy and delivers horror in a new and fresh way. The performances from the three leads were excellent, and the soundtrack is certainly praiseworthy. I had a great time watching, and it exceeded my expectations dramatically. *This review has been written for Sanity.
