Evil goes global

The Umbrella Corporations deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human races last and only hope, Alice, awakens in the heart of Umbrellas most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by new found allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

PRODUCT REVIEWS

Starting with a fun slow-motion battle shown in reverse, viewers will witness the ultimate fight Alice was engaged in when we last saw her. In the previous instalment, Alice had found a large ship carrying survivors. But sadly, Alice and the remaining survivors are attacked, and Alice herself is defeated and captured by the Umbrella Corporation. After being captured, Alice wakes up in a high-tech facility owned by the Umbrella Corporation and will now be tested in a whole new way while trying to fight for her freedom. The facility she is trapped in can reenact moments from Alice’s past thanks to modern technology. Alice is no longer in the real world but trapped in a futuristic simulation that will force her to revisit her past and even find some familiar faces along the way. Still, the question is, are they real, or is this just part of Umbrella’s facility? Thankfully, Alice won’t be fighting her battles alone as a deadly assassin named Ada Wong has been spotted around the facility with a dangerous mission of her own. For those not aware, this is the fifth instalment within the Resident Evil franchise. If you’ve seen a Resident Evil film before, then you’ll generally know what to expect: zombie fights, many brainless slow-motion action and a plot to save the world from a killer virus. This film introduces new characters from the popular game franchise, such as Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, and Barry Burton. Overall, while the fifth instalment certainly looks and sounds amazing, the film brings a somewhat lazy storyline that has no real benefit to the viewers. The film also ignores some of the biggest questions fans have, which also seem disappointing. Sure, there are still solid action sequences with Alice taking on many zombies in a high tech facility, but for me, this is the first film within the franchise that takes a back seat. *This review has been written for Sanity. The thing about this franchise is that it started off relatively well. The storyline was fairly well structured and the general experience while watching the first two movies was entertaining. I have come to realise now however is how short lived this franchise maybe should have been; as it seems to have now continued well past its sell-by-date, and frankly i think audiences probably expect & deserve better than what is presented here. However, as with ALL movies - there is ALWAYS an audience for whatever gets made, and I do hope that in time, this series finds that audience and that they love and cherish it as all art should be.
