PRODUCT REVIEWS

Introducing a film that is both gripping and emotional. When a retired sheriff named George (Kevin Costner) and his wife Margaret (Diane Lane) feel their grandson's life and upbringing are threatened, they decide to take matters into their own hands, going up against an extremely dangerous and sinister family. Both Kevin Costner and Diane Lane shine wonderfully in this film, both filled with determination to save and protect their grandchild. The film is a slow burn but builds to an unpredictable finale filled with shocking and surprising outcomes. * This review has been written for Sanity. What a tense & powerful film! A slow burn to begin with but turns white knuckle intense toward the end. A tremendous dinner scene mid way through is THE highlight scene of the year; simply fantastic. Great performances by all involved especially Diane Lane, Kevin Costner and Lesley Manville. Lane especially is incredible, carrying the film beautifully. 'Let Him Go' is one of the best film releases of 2021 - A truly wonderful masterpiece with what I believe should have been recognised as an Oscar worthy performance by Diane Lane. Beautiful on bluRay, just wish it had a local 4k bluray release. DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS MOVIE. This review has been written for Sanity. To see more from Ryan, follow @itsryanunicomb on Instagram

Kevin Costner continually proves himself as one of Hollywood’s most reliable stars. He has starred in some of the biggest films across the past 40 years and continues to make these films. In 2020 he starred in yet another action/drama vehicle ‘Let Him Go’ alongside Diane Lane. ‘Let Him Go’ follows a retired sheriff and his wife, grieving over the death of their son, set out to find their only grandson. With two likable and proven leads, I was excited to see this film as I knew that regardless of how it turned out the performances would be fantastic. So how was ‘Let Him Go’? As mentioned, the performances were always going to be good. Lane and Costner have been acting for 4 decades now and both performers knock it out of the park. This is not your usual Kevin Costner film. Gone are the action set pieces as the film focuses more on the thriller and drama elements. This is a fitting change for Costner and provides a subversion of sorts to what we have come to expect from Costner as a performer. The film is also superbly shot, director Thomas Bezucha improves here as a filmmaker (previously helming Monte Carlo & The Family Stone). He puts a strong emphasis on establishing the landscapes and locations of the film. He also does a great job with the characters here as well, with both of our leads doing a great job bringing these characters to life. ‘Let Him Go’ was a refreshing and different film than many others out there. I was not expecting to watch this film but am very glad that I did. I am giving ‘Let Him Go’ a 4/5. Pick up your copy today on DVD or Blu-Ray. Christopher Pattison wrote this movie review for Sanity.
