At 68 now and still a Star Trek fan Pickard was most enjoyable all the way through, to see Data`s Daughter Soji and Pickard`s friends in episode Nepenthe, Deanna and Riker (Will) was brilliant old friends again brought together again lots of memories back of past episodes of Star Trek, the story is complex entertaining and well worth the time to sit down and watch, would recommend Pickard to Trekkies as the end has one major twist that must not be missed, look forward to Season 2 and its release, Great watching !!!

‘Star Trek’ is one of my favourite pieces of entertainment to date. The various incarnations of this story have resonated with me over the years and I find myself re-watching the various shows ‘The Original Series’, ‘The Next Generation’, ‘Voyager’, ‘Deep Space Nine’ and even the new film trilogy. Each one of the series has its highs and lows and when CBS announced the new ‘Picard’ series, I found myself very excited to see how this series would pan out. ‘Picard’ is that centres on Jean-Luc Picard (played Sir Patrick Stewart) in the next chapter of his life. So how was ‘Picard’? ‘Picard’ was a refreshing entry into the ‘Star Trek’ canon. The series gives fans a great insight into one of the shows most iconic characters. The show takes a different approach to Picard’s character is vastly different from what we have seen before. Picard is weathered and has put the life of Captain behind him, however when events throw Picard back into the action, his qualities of captain shine through once more. These are the aspects of the show that I love, Stewart is fantastic as Picard, he owns this role and really brings the character to life. You feel the history and the legacy that has made Picard as iconic and synonymous with popular culture. The shows production design is also fantastic, the special effects rank among some of the best on television at the moment. ‘Picard’ season 1 is a love letter to ‘Star Trek’ fans, showing audiences once again how great ‘Star Trek’ can be. Blending the old with the new, this season was handled with great care. I cannot wait to see what they do for season 2. I am giving ‘Picard – Season 1’ a 4/5.
