Danny and Wheeler were just sentenced to 150 hours mentoring kids. Worst idea ever.

After salesmen Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (Seann William Scott) trash a company truck, the court gives them a choice: jail time or community service in a mentoring program. Thinking to take the easy way out, the two overgrown adolescents find themselves paired with a teenager (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who is experiencing the pangs of first love, and a foul-mouthed fifth-grader (Bobb'e J. Thompson), who needs an attitude adjustment.

PRODUCT REVIEWS

Paul Rudd is one of Hollywood’s most likeable comedic actors. He appears on-screen as he does off-screen just an absolute delight to watch. His lead turn in 2008’s ‘Role Models’ is one of my favourites. His pairing here with Sean William Scott is one of my favourites. The two have amazing chemistry with one another that I absolutely adore. Wild behaviour forces a pair of energy drink reps Wheeler (played by Sean William Scott) and Danny (played by Paul Rudd) to enrol in a Big Brother program. The premise is outlandish and hilarious, and Scott and Rudd’s performance really brings it home. As mentioned, the pairing here of Scott and Rudd is a stroke of genius from director David Wain He really gets a lot out of the two performers here, Danny is more of the straight man, and Wheeler is, of course, the part animal, which suits both actors very well. Their comradery as well with the two little brothers Augie (played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Ronnie (played by Bobbe J Thompson) is also great providing a lot of the film’s best moments. The setting of the third act in a real-life role-playing arena is also a great deal of fun, with have an early performance here from ken Jeong which in my opinion is among one of his best. The film has a great sentiment to it as well. There is a touching third act that really allows you to connect with the characters. ‘Role Models’ is one of my favourite comedy flicks of the 2000s. It is well written, well-acted and just plain fun. Rudd and Scott are fantastic together and the film itself is just a blast to watch. I am giving ‘Role Models’ a 4.5/5, Pick up your copy on DVD today from your local Sanity or online. Christopher Pattison has written this movie review for Sanity.
