We've gone too far

The Expanse is a thriller set two hundred years in the future, after mankind has colonized the solar system. A hardened detective (Thomas Jane, I) and a rogue ships captain (Steven Strait, Magic City) come together for what starts as the case of a missing young woman and evolves into a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history. As the war between Earth and Mars ignites across the solar system, the terrifying next phase in the evolution of the protomolecule threatens the very existence of humanity. Caught in the middle, the Rocinante crew struggles to deal with tensions amongst themselves, while striving to survive and aid those in peril.

PRODUCT REVIEWS

A TV series filled with all things about the world of space, The Expanse is an exciting Sci-fi series. Set around the 24th century, The Expanse introduces its audiences to many characters who each share a common goal, to avoid war, find the answers to mysteries and seek many truths related to the past and future. One of these characters is Police Detective Josephus Miller (Thomas Jane). Josephus is handed a new case by his Captain and tasked to work it under the radar. His new assignment is to find a disappearing woman. As Josephus begins to raise questions and dig deeper within his investigation, he soon learns a far greater game being played and becomes quite determined to find the truth at all costs. Josephus is also joined by his newest partner Dmitri (Jay Hernandez), when he is not working on his top-secret side mission. Another major character introduced is James Holden (Steven Strait), a key staff member on the ice-freighter Canterbury. Dramas occur for James when he and his crew respond to an SOS signal calling for help nearby. Responding to the distress signal has horrific results, leaving only James and a small group of survivors. Carrying the visual testimony of what happened, this crew must now come together and help prevent a war across planets. Visually, The Expanse is a wonderful world which I found to be positive throughout the entire season. The series is pleasing in even the minor details such as costumes and weapons. I was also surprised by the many moments of CGI effects. The CGI effects feel relatively high end rather than cheap, even feeling film worthy. Overall, The Expanse Season One is a genuinely brilliant sci-fi show. The series delivers a freshness that has been lacking on TV for some time now. The plot is great, and I found myself getting hooked and engaged after a couple of episodes as the series introduces multiple characters who are somewhat likeable to follow. Visuals are also stunning with great CGI and sound effects, all of which will impress anyone with a pleasing home cinema. I am passionate and keen to see what will occur next in Season 2! *This review has been written for Sanity.
