Based on Frank Miller's Graphic Novel

In this ferocious retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae based on the epic graphic novel by Sin City creator Frank Miller, King Xerxes of Persia amasses an army of hundreds of thousands, drawn from Asia and Africa, to invade and conquer the tiny, divided nation of Greece in 481 B.C. But when the advancing Persian forces enter the treacherous mountain pass of Thermopylae, they encounter Spartan King Leonidas and his royal guard of soldiers numbering just 300. According to legend, their valor and sacrifice inspired all of Greece to unite against the Persian foe, planting the seeds of democracy and ushering in the Golden Age of Greece.

PRODUCT REVIEWS

Zack Synder’s has produced some of popular cultures most iconic films, with his filmography featuring the likes of: ‘Dawn of The Dead’, ‘300’, ‘Watchmen’, ‘Sucker Punch’, ‘Man of Steel’, ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and ‘Justice League’ just to name a few. His visual filmmaking style has made him one of Hollywood’s most prolific filmmakers. In 2006 he made ‘300’. ‘300’ revolutionised a new style of filmmaking, with the graphic novel source material feeling like it had just leapt straight from the pages onto the big screen. The film was filled with great visuals, entertaining performances and fun and exciting action. ‘300’ has always held a special place in my heart. The film revolutionised the graphic novel adaptation, doing it better than many films that had come before it, with Synder’s visionary direction mixed with breath-taking action. The film is populated with interesting characters in a violent and stylised world. Gerard Butler leads the cast as King Leonidis. A Violent leader, that will do anything to keep his people safe. The film tells the tale of the 300 Spartans that went up against the Persian army, with nothing but their strength, loyalty and about 2 tonnes of baby oil. The action sequences as mentioned are all very well executed, oozing with style and grit. There are many sequences that are taken straight out of the graphic novel by Frank Millar, with the pages coming to life. The performances are all really strong as well, with Michael Fassbender showing up in a very early performance as one of the Spartans. By now, the chances are that you have already seen ‘300’, but this recent 4K UHD release is simply breathtaking, with the action playing better than it ever has and the film sounding better than ever before. As a film collector, this is a must have. I am giving ‘300’ an 8/10. Pick-up your copy of 4K UHD today at your local Sanity or online, you won’t regret it! Witness one of the greatest battles in history! King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) of Sparta is given no choice but assemble his 300 men and fight the Persians at Thermopylae during 480 B.C. There are many positive elements when it comes to 300. Firstly the visuals are amazing. Upon its release in 2006, the film introduced many new creative styles when it comes to filming, and since the release, many films have attempted to deliver something similar. One of these elements is the use of green screen along with introducing an excellent style of action sequences which have shot in slow motion capturing lots of details. Every visual moment on-screen is entirely unforgettable. This film also launched the career of actor Gerard Butler. While the actor had worked in cinema previously, it was this film where the actor showed the world what he was capable of in front of the camera. The film also includes powerful side performances from other familiar actors including Lena Headey, David Wenham, Dominic West and Michael Fassbender. Overall, if you’ve never seen 300, it comes highly recommend. When it comes to action, gore, war, and violence, 300 is undoubtedly an unforgettable film. Performances are outstanding, and the film use of green screen and CGI effects also changed cinema forever. Action sequences are also impressive as the film introduced the technique of slow-motion action. 300 is naturally a good time and delivers an experience unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.
