From the LA Soul Jazz underground of the mid 1960 's sprang The Afro-Latin Soultet, a combo who effortlessly groove through a blend of Boogaloo, Latin Jazz, and plenty of percussion-heavy Exotica in a loose and free style that is all their own. Formed in the early 1960 's in the Boyle Heights section of East Los Angeles, The Afro-Latin Soultet had it's rhythm roots in the Barrio of Latin Soul fusion. Members of the legendary band were Jose Romero keyboards; Antonio Sanchez guitar; Carlos Mendez guitar; Freddy Gomez drums; Cisco Frisco Lopez percussion; Juan Domingo conga; bongo; Arturo Martinez trumpet; Poncho Rivera misc. Rhythm; Eddie Mendoza electric bass; El Mundo stand-up bass and Renaldo Chewiwi reeds. Presented here is Jazztette, an album they recorded in the mid-1960 's that was never released, which now finally sees the light of day in the digital domain to the delight of rare groove fans everywhere. All selections newly re-mastered.
