The Chordettes SING NEVER ON SUNDAY represented something of a departure in sound for the group; whereas their earlier recordings had relied almost entirely on the a cappella arrangements of voices, NEVER ON SUNDAY featured some bold and lush arrangements, making this a much more Pop album than anything previous. It will invoke images of Phil Spector, whereby just about every imaginable instrument is thrown into the mix, but such are The Chordettes abilities, the supporting instrumentation is never allowed to take over. Well, not entirely anyway. The new sound works too, making NEVER ON SUNDAY an inspired and extremely enjoyable album.
