The Pistachio Kid Sweet Remedies CD

The Pistachio Kid is a musical project by Charlie McKeon: a talented and multi-instrumental singer-songwriter from Liverpool. Charlie is an urban-Huckleberry Finn character whose music transgresses genres; other-worldly yet melodically familiar evoking the exuberance of youth, the spirit of endless summers and that belief that everything and anything is possible.

‘Sweet Remedies’ represents the early work of an idiosyncratic, creative musician and songwriter evoking the early work of Bryan MacLean, Randy Newman, Van Dyke Parks and The Sherman Brothers.

“Sweet Remedies is a collection of music recorded at home in isolation. The music reflects the early period in my musical journey of experimentation, idiosyncrasy and spontaneity. It’s a personal project from my own increasing interest in music – a secret diary. I wasn’t sure who I was then – I was The Pistachio Kid.”

The songs were written and recorded in his hometown of Liverpool and represent a coming of age of an artist known for his intricate and colourful guitar playing, his unique voice and exquisite songs which balance the perfect ratio of lyrics to guitar.
