Julien Chang is an 18 year old musician from Baltimore who studied classical and jazz growing up but started to develop further tastes throughout high school.
After deciding the greatest producers of all time were George Martin, Quincy Jones and Dr. Dre, he started working on his debut album aged 17 and using the money he made from his job at the local grocery built a studio in the basement of his family home.
He wrote, recorded, mixed and mastered the album himself, and then started sharing it around the local Baltimore music community. He’s currently studying at Princeton on a music scholarship, and will be releasing the record, Jules, in October on Transgressive.
