The Gold Coast's Oceanics' self-titled debut album is the culmination of a methodical, in-house approach which spanned more than two years. Some songs were written years ago, others mere hours before recording.

The collective body of work sees the band wear their influences in an unabashed, straight-shooting fashion that only a group who have spent years writing together can do.

During the process, the band internalised the concept that expectation breeds disappointment. Thus, the album was made for little more than the fun and satisfaction of song writing, staying up all night, sleeping on floors and tirelessly trekking between Queensland and Sydney.
