Theres more musical hi-jinks as Deanna plays Mary Collins, a radio disc jockey. When a wealthy member of the Read family passes away he bequeaths part of his fortune to his mistress, one Mary Collins. Donald Read (John Dall) aided by his cousin Charlie (Donald OConnor) want to buy her off to avoid a family scandal. However they mistake young Mary for her aunt and kidnap her from the radio station. But she turns the tables on them by demanding a settlement of $1,000,000. Universal took this opportunity to cast their bright new young star Donald O'Connor with their top musical star Deanna Durbin. Also in the cast are Metropolitan Opera star Jan Peerce who joins Deanna in Miserere from Verdis Il Trovatore, and the young singing group the Four Williams Brothers (including Andy) who back Deanna in The Turntable Song. Other musical treats include Something in the Wind, Its Only Love, You Wanna Keep Your Baby Lookin Right and Happy Go Lucky and Free.
