Charlie Horse's debut album I Hope I Am Not A Monster released in 2012 received glowing reviews, a testament to both the duo’s songwriting and Rose’s distinctive attitude-laced vocals that have been compared to Lucinda Williams, PJ Harvey and Patti Smith. Following extensive touring, McDonald and Rose returned to their studio to begin work on the new album, and more diversely-styled songs began to emerge, some of which were road-tested at support slots with Stan Ridgway, Swervedriver and Ash.
