A highly accomplished fiddle, mandolin, acoustic guitar, banjo player and singer, Tamworth local Ashleigh Dallas is set to release her debut album Dancing with a Ghost on Friday 27 September.
Becoming a musician and singer/songwriter has been a rite of passage for young artist Ashleigh Dallas. Granddaughter of country music icon and Country Music Roll of Renown recipient, Rex Dallas, Ashleigh was two and a half when she had her first music lesson and was playing the fiddle by age six Ashleigh’s big break came when she was approached by Kasey Chambers to tour, and play the fiddle in her band. This was the start of a strong musical friendship that has seen Ashleigh travel to the US to play in Kasey’s band, become the support for shows in Australia and internationally.
"The moment I first saw Ashleigh perform I felt an instant connection with her. Ashleigh’s talent was obvious but it was her warmth and vibrant personality that excited me. Soon she became an integral part of my band and my family. I feel so lucky and such pride to have been a part of making her debut album and watching her step out from the band into the spotlight where she shows her strengths as a singer/songwriter/musician by comfortably owning her own unique modern sound while respecting the traditions of country music," says Kasey.
Now, Ashleigh is set to embark on her own musical journey with her debut album, Dancing with a Ghost. The album was recorded with Australian producer Matt Fell (Josh Pyke, Slim Dusty, Sara Storer) and co-produced by Kasey Chambers at the Foggy Mountain Studios. The new album features an eclectic selection of co-writes with highly respected artists such as Busby Marou, country legend Bill Chambers, her Dad Brett and young singer/songwriter, Kelly Menhennet.
