PRODUCT REVIEWS

Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is a cop located in the city of Detroit. Axel is known for being loud and witty but nevertheless he’s good cop and has street-smart wisdom when it comes to cracking cases. After an undercover bust gone wrong, Axel goes home only to find a long-time friend of his has visited him. They both share a few good moments at the local bar, but shortly after, Axel's friend is murdered. In trying to solve his friend's murder, Axel remembers some of the discussion they shared, and all the clues aim to Beverly Hills. Axel packs his bag and travels into a city that is quite different to Detroit. As he investigates, he begins to work with fellow Police Officers in Beverly Hills who at first do not like the methods that Axel uses. Eddie Murphy here is just awesome. His delivery of dialogue is well-timed, and no matter how many times I watch this movie, the actor manages to make me laugh with his quick and funny one-liners. His character is also quite pleasing as a Detroit cop. Action sequences in the present day do show their age ever so slightly, but they are still fun, especially in the film's opening scene which includes a large truck smashing into cars on the streets of Detroit. Overall, I absolutely love this. It is a fun action-comedy where actor Eddie Murphy brings one of his best characters to life. As a plot, it is also quite a brainless revenge tale, but thanks to several challenges for our lead, it is quite engaging and entertaining. The film's soundtrack is also a blast. *This review has been written for Sanity. For more reviews from Walkden Entertainment, check the link here: www.walkdenentertainment.com
