David Warth has been totally fascinated by the natural world from a very early age. In 1997 he fulfilled his lifetime ambition to become an independent wildlife filmmaker with his first documentary Tarkine – the Forgotten Wilderness for the ABC Natural History Unit. To make this film, David lived alone for a year exploring the remote Tarkine Wilderness in Northwest Tasmania. This was an amazing experience and deeply strengthened his connection to Nature.
Teaming up with producer Lin Sutherland, David then became the main cameraman for Lin’s Discovery travel series Travel Wild. He still films extensively around Australia and worldwide from Antarctica to New Guinea and the Pacific Islands.Tasmania continued to beckon and David made two more environmental films there: Land of the Giants, with Lin Sutherland as Producer / Presenter, and Two Visions – A Future for Tasmania.
David’s next major documentary project was Rainforest – The Secret of Life, a multi-award-winning documentary filmed in the glorious rainforests around the Mt Warning volcano on the northern New South Wales and south-east Queensland border.
The most beautiful and inspiring footage from this three-year-long shoot has now been made into this DVD, Deep in the Rainforest.
