Founded in St. Kilda from a chance encounter in the Esplanade hotel, HELLHOUNDS have built a strong and loyal fan base through their much- lauded live performances. Singer/guitarist Patch (Hellhound) Brown spent several years playing music in London and Europe, meeting and learning from legendary survivors of the 60's. This included Jim McCarty from The Yardbirds who he had the pleasure of playing with and whose stories of Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton changed him for life. Patch brought that schooling to Melbourne and soon met 'Venom', one of Melbourne's renowned rock drummers, and bass player Bryan Colechin, who spent many years recording and touring Europe with Hugo Race's True Spirit. The chemistry between the three was instant and reminiscent of power trios Cream or Band of Gypsies with authenticity and honesty to boot. With their combined and extensive knowledge of American blues and post punk retro-psychedelia, the powerful blues trio HELLHOUNDS was born.
