By now, many will know about Esperanza Spalding from her appearances for Barack Obama at the White House [invited by him for the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony], on Letterman where she became "The coolest person we've ever had on the show", being asked by Prince to play in a tribute as part of his BET Lifetime Achievement Award and her surprise win of Best New Artist at the 2010 Grammy Awards! Esperanza's 2008 album spent more than 70 weeks on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Chart. Two years later, with a fresh album she continues to push boundaries and explore the places where jazz intersects with other genres.
