A Family of Strangers is a new band with a member that might be familiar to some of you. Lead vocals and guitar is performed by Glenn Esmond from alternative rock/metal band The Butterfly Effect. This music is a move away from TBE’s sound as this is more located into Tonic territory. On more than one occasion I can hear similarities between the voices of Esmond and Emerson Hart of Tonic. In my book, that is not a bad thing.

On this EP we are treated to six songs of straight forward rock, it is nothing new but yet it does not feel old. It feels fresh and a song like Here Without You has a huge hit potential. So does The Velvet Divorce. These are really clever pop/rock songs that stick quite easily to your brain and Esmond comes off as a good singer. I read that Esmond hope to keep this project going along side with TBE and I hope so because this band is just as good. Fans of Tonic, Dishwalla and maybe even Black Lab might find this interesting. I most certainly did.
