Casey Golden is a Sydney-based piano player and composer who is making his mark on the Australian jazz scene. He has just released his debut album Clarity, with his trio on Scrampion Records/Planet/MGM.

Born into a musical family, he grew up playing both piano and trumpet. At the age of 17 (2005), he won a BBM Jazz Award and had the opportunity to go to London to check out the jazz scene there.

He has a Bachelor of Music majoring in jazz piano, and a Bachelor of Arts, both degrees earned with Distinction, from the University of New South Wales in Sydney. During his university years, he studied with many notable jazz musicians including Alister Spence, Matt McMahon and Michael Bartolomei. He has also studied overseas with some of the best pianists in the world, including Aaron Goldberg, Aaron Parks, Peter Martin and Barney McAll.

Casey has played at a number of Australian music festivals, including Stonnington Jazz Festival, Jazzgroove Futures Festival, Manly Jazz Festival, Thredbo Jazz Festival and the Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival.

He regularly plays around town with his trio, the Casey Golden Trio, featuring Brendan Clark on bass and Rob Turner on drums. His new release Clarity marks the culmination of a two-year musical partnership.
