PRODUCT REVIEWS

Max is a cab driver who hopes to have his own business one day and desires to provide a premium service that involves Limousines. But one night, while Max is working as a taxi driver, he picks up a passenger (played by Tom Cruise). The mysterious stranger offers Max $600 to drive him around to various places of his choosing. The offer seems to be true, but Max accepts and is naturally excited to receive a nice bonus for what appears to be easy work. Soon Max discovers that the stranger is, in fact, a dangerous hitman who is killing people at each various stop. Max is also now a hostage, forced to drive the stranger throughout the night and do whatever he asks. Thank to the director Michael Mann, we have another film which feels incredibly realistic at every moment. Nothing in this film ever feels fake, and Michael Mann’s style of directing and the type of visuals makes this film feel raw and consistently delivers a wide range of tension at every moment. One scene that always stood out to me is the famous “Night Club” scene which involves actor Tom Cruise taking out various thugs and an unforgettable shoot-out. Actors Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise are tremendous here and at no point do ever they fail on screen. The chemistry the two-share on-screen is also brilliant, and I found myself generally caring if Max would survive the night or be capable of being able to outsmart stranger. Overall, Collateral comes highly recommended. With a suspenseful plot and a realistic style when it comes to filming, I cannot give any significant complaints about this film. Performances also feel authentic from mainly from both Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx. Naturally, this is a must-watch! This review has been written for Sanity.
