In the Mid-Nineties to early noughties - one compilation brand stood proud and tall among all others: Cafe Del Mar. Each new volume was met with HUGE anticipation as a trusted and high-quality collection of the best chillout tracks of the time. Cafe Del Mar effectively invented CHILLOUT. The tracklists were carefully chosen to reflect the mood and spirit of a sunset by the ocean - and we loved it! These are the re-presented compilations in 2CD double packs. Upon their original release as single disc compilations - they achieved platinum sales status and provided the soundtrack to many a weekend drive, next-day recovery, relaxed holiday or backyard afternoon bbq party. Situated on the island of Ibiza in the town of San Antonio de Portmany, Cafe Del Mar arguably kick-started the chillout scene with its laidback vibes and grooves. In 1994, the first official "Cafe Del Mar" CD was released and today Cafe del Mar stands as the most respected and highly imitated chill-out music compilation series, selling millions of copies around the world. Cafe Del Mar DJ and artist, Jose Padilla curates these two volumes and was instrumental in creating the sound that was to become chillout. Volume Six marked the first Australian inclusion with Endorphin's 'Satie 1'. For years Padilla had been asked to make tapes of his hand picked, chilled out and totally eclectic tunes. As he himself says "I am always trying to find tracks which would otherwise be forgotten, or which hold the spirit of Cafe del Mar".
