IF YOU'VE NEVER SEEN A GHOST... LOOK CLOSER

Sixteen-year-old Alice Palmer drowns while swimming in the local dam, near the town of Ararat. After she is laid to rest, her family start experiencing a series of strange and inexplicable events. She begins to mysteriously appear in the background of photos and video footage. Profoundly unsettled, the Palmers seek the help of a parapsychologist who discovers that there was more to Alice's life than first appeared. A series of clues lead the family to Lake Mungo where Alice's secret past emerges.
Lake Mungo is a mystery, a thriller and a ghost story told in documentary style that illustrates how the dead can forever haunt the living.

PRODUCT REVIEWS

I have watched "Lake Mungo" four times now; sharing the emotional experience of primal fear and loss that this film evokes with family members and friends. Anyone who values the psychological horror genre, where a brilliant concept with zero CGI can leave you feeling permanently changed (psychologically scarred?) after viewing it, should watch "Lake Mungo" as a rite of passage. It sure leaves its mark. I watched it last night with my nephew, who lives in Victoria; 700km from the real Lake Mungo. (We synchronised starting the movie and texted each other in our own private support group! ??) He has watched all the classic horror movies and thought himself impervious to being emotionally effected by horror movies now. It was 38°c in Melbourne last night and he had all his doors and windows open. About 30 minutes into watching "Lake Mungo", he shut and locked them all and turned on the Air Con. He never uses his Air Con. I told him if he started driving now, he could be at Lake Mungo by 5am. But don't forget a torch, maybe some Holy Water and whatever you do, don't fall in the lake! He declined this opportunity to explore the real Lake Mungo by torchlight. This morning, he is still texting me about his own personal theories which might explain what happened to Alice and her family, mentally and physically, at Lake Mungo. "Lake Mungo" has claimed yet another willing victim. Who will it claim tonight?
