Late-night talk-show king Johnny Carson first graced America’s airwaves in 1955 when, as a young staff writer for THE RED SKELTON SHO W, he was asked to stand in for the injured host. Carson’s appearance was so successful that the network gave him his own primetime variety series, THE JOHNY CARSON SHOW, which, with its signature blend of monologues, comedy skits and musical interludes, served as a virtual blueprint for the later TON IGHT SHO W. This collection resurrects the long-lost series with 10 half-hour episodes that find Johnny parodying everything from Edward R. Murrow’s PERSON TO PERSON to Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
