The Jacksons went from one roaring success to another when they released their magical, self-produced album, Triumph, in 1980. Their second consecutive multi-platinum-seller, Triumph generated massive chart hits “Lovely One,” “Can You Feel It,” and “This Place Hotel,” followed by a wall-to-wall, sold-out national tour. It was the Jacksons’ first album to reach the number one slot in the national R&B charts since 1976, and it would become the combo’s last longplayer until 1984, by which time the group dynamic had dramatically shifted.
