On Eagle's Wing brings to life the history of a small number of people who over a period of five centuries struggle to find their Zion.As a people, like many displaced peoples, they face poverty, hardship, religious persecution and loss of their loved ones, but in a new world they find freedom, friendship and inclusion contributing to a new world called America. The story is told through a Musical Stage Show which takes a scene or a song as snap shots of history from the 1600's to today. The program sets scenes of the Scots-Irish travel from the lowlands and borderlands of Scotland to the province of Ulster in Ireland and later to the frontiers of America. With songs and dance sequences capturing moments of time over the centuries they ask their questions and demonstrate the answers with a mixture of traditional sounds in ballads and lively dance routines. The gradual influences of other cultures change the music bringing us into the 21st century. The program is accompanied by a historical documentary program and a 'Making Of' film also for broadcasters. The music and lyrics are beautifully composed by John Anderson who hopes the message of his lyrics can be regarded as a universal truth for all displaced peoples who continued and still continue today to follow their quest for a better place. t a time for strength, faith and determination as we have.
