While not trying to be a 'joke' band, THE CLAP still maintain a sense of humour throughout the lyrics, While songs like 'Get On The Dole', 'Garbage Night', 'Town Clown' and 'Che Guevara T-Shirt Wearer' are a bit of light hearted social commentary.Other tracks such as 'Full', 'Dirty Woman' and 'Insulated' are more based on life and how things like emotions and relationships can get out of hand and cause unnecesary problems. The opening track 'Pointless' reflects how most pop songs are about absolutely nothing and are pretty much three minutes of your life that you will never get back! The music of THE CLAP could be compared to AC/DC getting into a drunken brawl with TISM, but each member takes influences from many other styles of music, from Electronic Noise to 80s glam, and they always make sure that the songs rock hard even if the lyrics may be taken out of context!!
