'Mama's Gun' is the new album from nu-soul diva Erykah Badu, and it has most definitely been worth the wait. 14 classic tunes from the multi grammy winning Erykah. Her first album, 'Baduizm', was received with both huge critical acclaim as well as strong sales and this album looks set to follow in its footsteps! One of the classiest yet most down-to-earth women on the international soul scene at present, Erykah Badu somehow manages to maintain oodles of credibility and yet still seem as real as you or I. Mama s Gun is her second studio album proper and will doubtless drop easily into most canny shopping baskets right now (the title comes from Erykah s nickname for her microphone, by the way). It s worth pausing, though, to reflect on just how influential Badu has been. Had it not been for her (and the vision of Kedar Massenberg, who discovered her), the alternatives to the bling bling and the jiggy jiggy would be seriously and severely limited. This is an instant classic! ESSENTIAL!
