After being released from the Joliet Correctional Center in Illinois, Jake Blues (John Belushi) meets his brother, Elwood (Dan Aykroyd), who comes to pick him up in a second-hand police car. The two brothers visit ‘The Penguin’, a nun (Kathleen Freeman), as soon as Jake is released. Sister Mary Stigmata resides at Saint Helen’s Orphanage, which is also where Jake and Elwood grew up. However, they discover that the orphanage is in dire need of $5000 within the next eleven days, or the board of education will have it destroyed. But how can Jake and Elwood help?
After attending a powerful church service, The Blues Brothers discover they can help an orphanage by performing music. On a ‘mission from God’, they will go to the stage and put on a big show to raise lots of cash. Now, they must gather their old bandmates together for an epic concert. However, their reunion is not without challenges. Firstly, they must persuade their former band members to join them, all while evading the police who are pursuing them. Additionally, a mysterious woman (Carrie Fisher) keeps trying to kill them for unknown reasons, and a group of Nazis is also on their tail.
"The Blues Brothers" is a fun comedy film that is filled with witty and random moments. The movie features many one-liners, quotable dialogues, slapstick comedy, and spoofs. The comedy in the film is outstanding, and every scene delivers something unexpected and surprising. The lead characters' dialogues are plentiful and snappy, full of excellent comedic timing through their banter. The comedic timing spills over to their mannerisms, body language, and action scenes, all combining to make the movie even more enjoyable and an absolute must-watch.
Overall, The Blues Brothers is an incredible movie that guarantees a great time! The film features top-notch comedy, music, wild stunts, and thrilling car chases. It's hard to find any faults in this movie. The plot is unpredictable, and each scene is exciting. The film culminates in a fun concert, which is a perfect finale. The on-screen chemistry between John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd is excellent, and their banter and mannerisms make their performances even more enjoyable.
