This disc contains material previously available on the bestselling disc Music of a Nation with additional tracks that feature new arrangements of Advance Australia Fair and Waltzing Matilda. As well as the standard versions, this recording includes four arrangements of Advance Australia Fair by some of Australia's most eminent composers. These were written in response to an invitation by the Prime Minister in 1996 to record their interpretations of this song as a gift to the nation, in an effort to ensure that Australians know their anthem, understand its potential and can sing it with pride and spirit. A vibrant orchestral fantasy on Waltzing Matilda by composer Alan John is also included here, along with a 1935 recording of the song by the esteemed Australian baritone Peter Dawson. This is the definitive CD collection to be used for civic ceremonies, Australia Day celebrations or for anyone who loves the stirring sound and sentiments of our national anthem.
