Why You Should Get Bullet Train on DVD, Blu-ray or 4K UHD

2022 has been a year full of surprises when it comes to movies on the big screen. We have got some seriously great films in every genre. ‘Nope’ dominated in the horror genre, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ was the perfect blockbuster, ‘The Lost City’ brought the romantic comedy back to the big screen and Brad Pitt’s ‘Bullet Train’ brought action back in a big, BIG way. Brad Pitt stars as Ladybug, an assassin aboard a bullet train with 4 other assassins, who all find out that their missions have something in common… The film is helmed by David Leitch, half of the duo that helmed ‘John Wick’ and who has directed other great action films: ‘Atomic Blonde’, ‘Deadpool 2’, ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ and now ‘Bullet Train’. With a star-studded cast (Zazie Beetz, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Shannon, Sandra Bullock, Bryan Tyree-Henry, Joey King and Logan Lerman) an excellent action director at the helm and a fun premise, this film was destined to be an action classic. So, to celebrate ‘Bullet Train’s’ release on physical media, I am here today to tell you 3 reasons why you need to add ‘Bullet Train’ to your collection. So, without further ado, let’s go!

5 assassins walk onto a Bullet Train (The assassins and cast) -

As mentioned, ‘Bullet Train’ boasts a star-studded cast. One of the best casts in recent memory. Brad Pitt at age 59 is still crushing it in these big, action focussed roles. He holds his own, performing a majority of his own stunts in the role, which adds to the believability of these larger than life action set pieces. The rest of the cast are also incredible, leaning into the action and the confined setting of the train. Zazie Beetz is amazing as The Hornet in a small, but important role and further proves she needs to be in more action centric roles. Aaron Taylor-Johnson shows that he still has the charisma he showed over 10 years ago as everyone’s favourite wannabe superhero, Kick-Ass. Sandra Bullock joins the cast in a surprise role and definitely against type, which is great fun, even though again, her role is quite small. Other cast members Joey King, Bryan Tyree-Henry, Michael Shannon and Hiroyuki Sanada round out the amazing star-studded affair. The dynamic between the assassins is a lot of fun as well, with brothers Tangerine (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Lemon (Bryan Tyree-henry) standing out, showcasing amazing chemistry with one another and having an absolute blast with the film's premise. It is easily one of the highlights of the film.

Shhh, this is the quiet carriage (The action set-pieces) -

As mentioned, director David Leitch has become one of Hollywood’s go-to filmmakers when it comes to action films. His style lends itself to some truly amazing action set-pieces that are memorable, well-crafted and above all else, just a hell of a lot of fun. ‘Bullet Train’ follows this trend, with yet another well-crafted, incredibly directed film. The confined setting of the train would limit many filmmakers, however, for Leitch, it doesn’t even seem to be a challenge. He uses this location to create claustrophobic, tense action sequences that don’t give the cast and stunt performers a lot of room, but this is definitely to the benefit of the audience. Because of the film's amazing pacing, the backdrop never feels monotonous.

Who, Where, What, Why, How? (The Plot) –

The film boasts a fun plot, with plenty of humour and surprise cameos sprinkled throughout its 2-hour runtime. The film sees 5 assassins aboard a Japanese Bullet Train (hence the title of the film), who all have something in common, I don’t want to give anything away here, as I was unaware of the direction the film was going in, staying away from trailers and promo material for the film. I knew it had an impressive cast, it took place on a bullet train and was about assassins. That's it. I am glad I didn’t know what to expect here, as the film's plot keeps moving at a steady pace, without ever feeling like it was dragging. The film finds inventive techniques to introduce flashbacks and other important plot devices, which show how the assassins all know each other. David Leitch’s style works well for these types of action flicks.

It has been a great year for film in 2022, and ‘Bullet Train’ was easily one of this year’s best. With an amazing cast, a fun plot, amazing pacing and breathtaking action set-pieces. If you’re an action fan you need to check this one out and if you just want a good time watching a fun action flick, this is one for you. ‘Bullet Train’ is now available on DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K UHD, be sure to secure your copy before Christmas.
