Things to Do When You're Bored at Home

Being bored is just a part of life. We can’t help it, it is just who we are and the way we are designed. However, how we choose to cure our boredom is another question. There are many different ways we can do this, from listening to music to do a puzzle, to playing a board game or even binging your favourite tv series. Today, I am going to give you some advice and let you know what you can do when you are home with nothing to do. Here are the 7 best ways you can cure your boredom.

1. Rick & Morty Monopoly – we have all played Monopoly. What version you’ve played is a different question. Monopoly has always kept its players satisfied with different iterations of the same game. Think of your favorite tv show, movie, or pop culture related thing, chances are there is a monopoly of it. My personal favorite, is the ‘Rick & Morty’ monopoly. If you’re a fan of the show, you will have fun with the various references on the board such as Rick’s Garage and Morty’s Bedroom being the most expensive property’s in the game. Whilst Monopoly might cause a bit of tension amongst your family and those you’re playing with, there is no denying how much fun it is. One of the best games to play if you’re bored and if you introduce house rules, you will have an absolute blast with it.

2. Cards Against Humanity – Card Game – There are plenty of new card games that have entered the new sub-category of ‘Adult Card Games’, but none have had the impact that ‘Cards Against Humanity’ has had. This game is still as funny now as it was when it was first released. Crude and downright wrong, you have to choose the company in which this one with carefully, because the chances are, that someone is going to get offended. The various scenarios that you can create with just a few cards is utterly outrageous and a hell of a lot of fun. It is a great time to be had and if you are bored and hanging with a few mates it is the perfect game.

3. The Dry (novel by Jane Harper) – Another pass time of mine is finding a good book to read. After the 2021 film adaptation of Jane Harpers Australian Crime Thriller ‘The Dry’ hit theatres, many booklovers have gone and checked out the novel in which it was based and boy is it a blast. The film remains incredibly faithful to the novel, but Jane Harpers beautifully haunting setting and well-rounded characters add to the appeal of the novel. The mystery is complex and well-crafted and will keep you guessing throughout the entire book. It is the definition of a page-turner, the book remains glued to your hands until you reach the final page. It is brilliant and one of my favourite crime novels in recent years. It will be sure to sweep you up and cure that boredom of yours.

4. 1000 Piece It Clown Puzzle – another way to pass the time and cure your boredom is to sit down and complete a puzzle. To me, there are few things more satisfying than completing a puzzle. Putting that last piece in is pure ecstasy.  My personal pick for the puzzles available at the moment is of course the It Clown 1000-piece puzzle. As you guys know by now, I love my horror movies, and there are few more iconic horror characters than Pennywise. The puzzle is downright creepy when you finish, and the image of that damn clown will not leave your mind. But at least, the longer you spend on the puzzle the less scary he will be. It’s a fun puzzle and the artwork once you complete it, is really cool.

5. Just the Hits: Feel Good Anthems CD – listening to some quality tunes is also one of my favourite pass time, as when you’re bored, there is nothing better than to dance around to your favourite tunes. Just The Hits: Feel Good Anthems CD has some of the best songs of the last 50 years, with songs from The Jackson Five, Blondie, Queen, The Cure, Police, ABBA, Poison, and more! This album will have you dancing for hours and will give you something to do when you’re bored, even if you want to put it on in the background whilst your playing Monopoly or doing the It puzzle.

6. Back To The Future – Nothing beats a good movie as well when you’re bored. There are plenty of options out there, but sometimes it can be a little difficult to choose. Me personally, I have a list of my go-to films. These are movies that I know I can watch when there are just too many options. My favourite on this list is 1985s ‘Back To The Future. This film is a classic, Marty, Doc Brown, and of course the DeLorean. “Great Scot”, could you ask for a better combination. The film is filled with memorable moments, loveable characters, and just a grand sense of fun that other films just fail to capture. I love the film and the more watch it, the more I grow to love it. You can turn it into a marathon and watch parts II and III as well when you are done with Part I.

7. Supernatural (The complete series) – Binging a Tv series is also a sure-fire way to cure your boredom. My go-to at the moment is ‘Supernatural’. This show has it all, drama, comedy, horror, suspense, it’s the complete package. The adventures of the Winchester boys have become a popular culture staple. The show is filled with memorable episodes, great lore, and loveable characters. You can jump in on any season arc if you’ve watched the show before and if you haven’t watched the show, then what are you doing reading this blog, go and watch it! It will definitely cure your boredom but might turn you into a couch potato for a few weeks.
